Staff and Care

The “Person in Charge” of delivering our exceptional standards in care is Director of Nursing, Helen Morris.
Helen has been with Griffeen Valley since its conception and has an extensive knowledge of the needs of the maturing population.
Helen has constantly up skilled herself by attending relevant courses such as medication management, wound care, MUST training and elder abuse to name but a few.

Helen is also a member of Nursing Home, Nursing Projects and was/is very involved in compiling the latest policies now being adapted by the majority of care facilities in the country.
Our confidence in her leadership and experience is confirmed by the many kind letters and expressions of gratitude received by previous residents and their families.

Helen leads the team of Staff Nurses, some of whom have been with us since 1994.
The Staff Nurses are, of course, all registered with ABA and deliver individually and collectively a solid package of health care management.
The Staff Nurses’ work is complimented by a dedicated, caring and highly trained healthcare support staff.

The entire team is complete when catering and housekeeping staff are mentioned, who are also highly trained in the duties that they carry out.  You will find that everyone is eager to answer any question you may have and everyone is more than happy to provide anything that will enhance your stay.

All members of staff recognise the importance of providing an atmosphere where the essence of care lies in the preservation of individuality, dignity and independence.

At Griffeen Valley we pride ourselves on:
  • Happy residents
  • Caring, content staff
  • A safe environment that respects and caters resident individual needs, culture and differences
  • Individual caring program for each resident

Griffeen Valley provides a team of long serving highly skilled and qualified professionals. We believe that the essence of nursing care is acknowledging individual’s cultural and spiritual needs in a relaxed, safe but homely atmosphere while encouraging and helping them to live to fulfil their physical, social and mental potential.
The care for each resident is carefully planned and coordinated by the team together with the resident and relatives under the direction of the visiting doctor. The team are also supported by a variety of consultants / therapists offering services to the community which are available by arrangement.

Griffeen Valley maintains a close relationship with the local community care facilities, hospitals and the Health Services Executive. Every nursing home in Ireland is legally required to have HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) system of food management in place by June 2004. Griffeen Valley has HACCP in place since early 2003 and prides itself in the highest of hygiene standards.
Breakfast is served in bed and Lunch, a four-course meal, always offers a minimum of two main course choices. All food is freshly prepared and cooked daily and all special dietary needs are catered for.
